School Farm - Old McGregor's Farm
Our Farm Club is a popular lunchtime activity that gives students the opportunity to spend time on the school farm and get involved in caring for our animals. The club is open to a year group a day (see table below), allowing students across the school to enjoy hands-on experiences with the farm.
During Farm Club, students help with a variety of tasks such as feeding the animals, checking water, collecting eggs, tidying enclosures, and making sure the animals are happy and healthy. It’s also a chance to spend time observing the animals, learning about their behaviour, and developing confidence when working with them.
Farm Club encourages teamwork, responsibility, and respect for animals while giving students a relaxing and enjoyable break during the school day. It is a wonderful way for students to connect with nature, learn new skills, and be part of our growing school farm community.

George is a much-loved member of our school farm family. He is a pygmy goat, a small breed known for its friendly nature, curiosity, and playful personality. Although he may be small in size, George certainly has a big character and quickly became a favourite with both students and visitors.
Pygmy goats are naturally social animals and enjoy being around other goats as well as people. George can often be seen exploring his enclosure, hopping around the field, or coming over to greet anyone who stops by to say hello.
Having animals like George on our school farm helps students learn about animal care, responsibility, and farm life. By helping to feed, observe, and look after George, students gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of how to care for animals properly.
Next time you visit the school farm, keep an eye out for George — our cheerful pygmy goat who is always ready to brighten someone’s day.

Our school chickens are an important and much-loved part of the school farm. They provide students with a wonderful opportunity to learn about animal care, responsibility, and where eggs come from.
Chickens are curious, active birds that enjoy scratching in the ground, exploring their surroundings, and spending time together as a flock. Each of our chickens has its own personality, and students quickly learn how to recognise and care for them.
Looking after the chickens helps students understand the daily needs of animals, including feeding, providing fresh water, collecting eggs, and keeping their coop clean and comfortable. These hands-on experiences help bring learning to life and encourage respect for animals and the natural world.
Our chickens not only supply us with fresh eggs but also play an important role in helping students connect with farm life and develop a deeper understanding of how animals are cared for.
Our school rabbits are a gentle and much-loved part of the school farm. They give students the opportunity to learn about caring for small animals while building confidence and responsibility.
Rabbits are naturally curious and enjoy exploring their surroundings, nibbling on fresh vegetables, and relaxing in a quiet, comfortable space. Each rabbit has its own personality, and students enjoy getting to know them while helping to look after their daily needs.
By helping to feed the rabbits, refresh their water, clean their living areas, and handle them carefully, students learn the importance of kindness, patience, and proper animal care. These experiences help students develop respect for animals and a better understanding of how to care for them.
