Top Tips for Parents & Carers

Supporting a teenager through Year 8 is all about helping them build routines without taking over.

Establish a "No Screens" Study Window: Encourage a routine where phones and tablets are placed in a communal charging area during homework time to eliminate distractions. Praise effort over outcome: Focus on the consistency of their study habits rather than just test scores.
Encourage reading for pleasure: Just 15–20 minutes of reading a day drastically improves vocabulary and writing skills across all subjects. The 4:30 PM Routine: Encourage students to tackle homework on the night it is set rather than leaving it until the deadline evening.
